Morgan Ashurst has been awarded a £12m NHS LIFT contract to build two primary health centres in Doncaster. It means that the firm will have delivered nine health centres for the Doncaster community during the last five years.
The firm will build The Town Hub primary care centre and Conisbrough Primary Care Centre for Doncaster Community Solutions – a public private partnership between Community Solutions for Primary Care, NHS Doncaster, Doncaster Metropolitan Council and Community Health Partnerships. Both schemes form part of an existing five-year framework.
In the new contracts, Morgan Ashurst will build The Town Hub in Sepulchre Gate West, central Doncaster – a four-storey centre which will accommodate a GP practice, dentistry facilities, a pharmacy and a drop-in centre. It will also include community facilities for residents of Hexthorpe and Balby, as well as people working in the town centre.
The building will be triangular-shaped with a natural light well at the centre to draw in natural light and will include sustainable features such as photovoltaic and solar panels, air source heat pumps and rainwater harvesting.

Morgan Ashurst will also build Conisbrough Primary Care Centre, a two-storey building in Gardens Lane, which accommodates two GP practices, a district nurse, a minor operations unit, ambulance services, group work rooms and a pharmacy. Energy-saving features include natural lighting and ventilation.
Morgan Ashurst is aiming to achieve a BREEAM rating of ‘Excellent’ for both schemes which are due to be completed in Autumn 2011.
The firm is a construction partner on five NHS LIFT schemes across the UK.
