Heidelberg renews Bedford highways term

Heidelberg Materials Contracting (formerly Hanson Contracting) starts work this month on its new highway maintenance contract with Bedford Borough Council, valued at around £30m over the five-year term.

Heidelberg has worked as the main highways contractor for the council since 2013, laying more than 250,000 tonnes of asphalt and delivering a range of schemes across Bedford.

Dave Bennett, major contracts and delivery team leader at Bedford Borough Council, said: “We are delighted to renew our contract with Heidelberg Materials and we are looking forward to continuing a safe and successful collaborative contract.â€

Scott Cooper, managing director at Heidelberg Materials Contracting, added: “This is great news and demonstrates the success of the relationship we have built with Bedford Borough Council over the last few years.â€
