Four share £750m Wales & Western framework

1 hour Balfour Beatty, M Group, John Sisk and MPH have been selected for a five-year Network Rail framework.

Network Rail Infrastructure has named the four contractors who will share its Wales & Western minor works framework, which has a total value of £750m over the five-year term.

Lot 1, valued at £262m, is for reactive & minor civil engineering works on the Western route. Balfour Beatty Rail has been chosen for this.

Lot 2, valued at £150m, is for reactive & minor civil engineering works in Wales Civils. Dyer & Butler as was – it rebranded to M Group Rail & Aviation last week – has been selected for this.

Lot 3, reactive & minor building works on the Western route (valued at £225m) goes to JSS Rail, a subsidiary of John Sisk & Son.

Lot 4 is reactive & minor building works in Wales, valued at £112m, and goes to MPH Construction.

The scope of works includes planned maintenance, unplanned maintenance, cyclical maintenance, projects works and emergency works for an estimated 250 buildings and stations along the route, including Reading, Bristol Temple Meads, Exeter and Plymouth, as well as the track between.
